It's not actually hard to take care of your piano, the main thing that you will actually do is call a piano tuner when your piano starts to sound funny, for me I usually call every 6 months- a year
But, you definately need to make sure your not pounding on the keys because later on as your playing you will realize your keys start to ring every time you play, and sadly the piano tuner can't help with that.
You also need to be careful with the pedals because they with also start to act funny. The consequences can vary.
Reasoning behind not pounding on the keys is becuase they are connected to strings, with a little soft hammer to hit the strings to make the noise, and when the hammer hits hard it could possibly break the strings
